When it comes to skin rejuvenation treatments, one of the most accessible and popular routes is to have a course of results-driven facial treatments.
What is a “Results-Driven Facial Treatment”?
This is a treatment that creates actual physical change to the cellular make-up of the skin.
Many facial treatments are based around relaxation or massage techniques, which are still valuable for various reasons, but they do not change the cell physiology and therefore won’t correct or prevent the many concerns we are faced with.
Results-driven treatments often harness advanced skincare technology in order to penetrate active ingredients into the deeper layers and various types of cells within the skin. Chemical peeling systems may also be used to help resurface and stimulate regeneration of the skin.
What conditions or concerns can be treated?
There is very little that cannot be treated using results-driven treatments. We can address most acne conditions, rosacea, pigmentation, redness, textural issues, dryness and dehydration. The only time we may not treat is in some severe acne cases, and we would then refer you to a dermatologist. Also, if the skin was very sensitive and has a badly damaged barrier function and here we would firstly focus on the homecare of the skin, to bring it back to stability, before then proceeding with in-clinic treatments.
How many treatments are needed?
This depends on the concern being treated and the desired result. When rejuvenating the skin in this way we are aiming to create a healthy skin and correct the issues we are seeing, this can take time. As a starting point we classically recommend starting on a course of 6 treatments which would be performed anything from weekly to monthly, again, dependent on the concern being addressed.

So, what do we mean by advanced skincare technology?
There are many different types of technology or machinery, used to rejuvenate the skin. At SIRENS, we use the ENVIRON DF II Ionzyme machine. This machine uses sound waves and a small electrical current to push active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin where they can be put to work. The treatment is completely pain free and can be just as relaxing as any other facial treatment. At most, clients can expect to experience mild tingling on the skin, a high-pitched noise for the odd moment and possibly witness minor flashing behind the eyes due to the electrical current. All these symptoms are mild and safe.

Do I also need to use prescriptive homecare?
We talk about this a lot in our blogs, and in clinic, as it’s important to clarify our standpoint on homecare when it comes to addressing any skin concern. If we think about skin in terms of fitness and health, then your skin care is your diet and in clinic treatments are your workouts at the gym and we all know you can’t outrun a bad diet. First and foremost, the skin needs to be treated correctly, with the correct ingredients, on a daily basis. This is the only way of ensuring the skin returns to normal function and is healthy enough to respond well to treatment, gaining optimum results. That’s not to say that results cannot be gained using treatments alone, but they certainly cannot be guaranteed or maintained without prescriptive skincare and healthy skincare practises.
